Special Lady-Stewart Brodian

A special song for, I guess, a very special lady...from DJ/singer/songwriter/actor/celebrity impersonator and much, much more, Stewart Brodian.
Perhaps you have a very special lady whom you'd like to play this to?
Great guitar solo's and lolloping melody...

Are You Being Served Sir?-John Inman

'...little good around the house and no good with an iron'

Three superb tracks from the late great John Inman...the most famous 'Are You Being Served Sir', alongside 'Sun Sign's' and 'Captain Ginger'...all from the first LP, which I prefer...though the 'brass' cover is great...
It's innuendo-a-go-go here so if that's not your cuppa char then you'll have to move on...if it is then sit back and enjoy a great voice, lyrics and songs...now then, what possibly rhymes with Uranus?

Different Strokes Theme+French Theme+Gary Coleman Phone Call'

Apparently a troubled little soul, whatever the hell that means, Gary Coleman is dead and as tribute I present the original theme, a french version of the theme and Gary's infamous telephone call to some ol' hookers or others...'I may be small but I can choo-choo' of course you can dear...

...but please remember kids 'What might be right for you, may not be right for some'...very deep and very true, Different Strokes indeed!

Batman Theme+Robin Theme-Sun Ra and the Blues Project

Produced by Tom Wilson for a toy company in Newark and sold as 'The Sensationtional Guitars of Dan and Dale', this was in fact the cream of Sun Ra's Archestra teamed up with most of Al Koopers Blues Project!
The tracks tend to lock into simple rock 'n' roll riffs and let rip, as on the superb uncredited vocal on 'Robin's Theme, great stuff!

Batgirl Theme+Two Perfectly Ordinary People

So here is the (all too brief) Batgirl theme from the unaired pilot. I don't suppose the show could have given us much more than the original, apart from treating us to the undoubted charms of Yvonne Graig...hmmm, maybe they should have made it!
I've teamed this up with one of my favourite 'Bat-quotes' from the Nelson Riddle album from the show...

The Capture-Burgess Meredith

So here we have The Penguin with yet another Batman TV show cash-in, the rather smooth and jazzy 'The Capture' plus it's B-side, 'The Escape'.
A great character superbly played by Burgess Meredith, my fine feathered finks ...

Boy Wonder I Love You-Burt Ward

Absolute genius here as Frank Zappa takes the 'Boy Wonder' into pop heaven, with a lush arragement that only serves to emphasise his nasty sneering little voice...great lyrics and sound effects also...
Check the details and extract from his Bio 'Boy Wonder-My Life in Tights' here.

Themes and Stuff!-Batman.

Ok, to finish off these tv/movie based theme post's I'm ending with a few Batman related tracks. Now they're all going to be 1960's ones (not going near Danny Elfman or Prince) starting with, of course the original TV Theme and the Main Acknowledgement Title by Nelson Riddle from the superb movie.

Donkey Kong Theme

Not sure whether this track is from the Saturday Supercade of Nintendo cartoons but I really like the way they varispeed everything so it's all off-key and out of time...I guess this wasn't delibrate but certainly adds to it in my ears!
Also check out the 'King of Kong' if you haven't yet. great documentary!

Ewok Celebration-Meco

A lot of blokes, and it mainly is blokes, tend to obsess about Star Wars...now don 't get me wrong I like it an all that, it's fine and was a part of my childhood too, but some people just can't let go...which is fine. I understand that.
Anyhow, here is Ewok Celebration by Meco, the guy that did the Star Wars disco version amongst other things.
It features a fairly mental nonesense rap towards the end...or maybe it's not nonesense and they're speaking 'Jedi' or 'Ewok' or something?

Starlight Rainbow Bright+Bink Bonk-Rainbow Bright

Well, if wikipedia is to be believed these little cuties generated over $1 billion in doll sales alone and these two tracks go some way in explaining why...think 'Bink Bonk' is due for covering...what do you reckon, Lady Gaga?..MIchael Jackson's ghost?
Time to get the crayons out...

Main Title+Peaks and Valleys-Chips

Now I haven't seen 70's cult show 'Chips' for awhile, so can't quite remember whether it was any good or not? Looking back I find a lot of these shows a bit hit and miss, some truly great while others re-run the same old formular.
One thing is for sure though, the theme(and accompanying album) 'kick ass', as our American chums might say...
So here is the main theme from the show and 'Peaks and Valleys' the second track from the album.

Tut Tut Tut-Gillian Hills

Actress and singer Gillian Hills here with 'Tut Tut Tut'. Could have popped in my Franch post awhile back, but more than welcome here among the TV/Movie theme. If you're a fan of Hammer Horror movies (and let's face, who isn't?) then check out 'Demons Of The Mind',1972 featuring Gillian in action.

Take It Out On Time-Lewis Collins

Famous Tv 'hardman' Lewis Collins here with his superb 'Take It Out On Time', he could have been another 'Hoff' with his pop career if he wasn't being so 'hard' at the time in 'The Professionals'..still, 'Who Dares Wins' is a pretty good film, I'd recommend you all check it out...

Star Fleet-Brain May and friends

Here we have the wonderful Brian May's cover of the theme from the classic 80's kids show Star Fleet...and it's pretty much everything you could want from the May's riffology...and more! (yes,it does go on a bit...seems like it will never end at one point...)

Kure Kure Takora-(music) Shunsuke Kikuchi

Before Tellytubbies and their ilk, there existed in a the far off land of Japan a show called Kure Kure Takora (Gimmi Gimmi Octopus,apparently...) and Lo, it was genius as you can see from the clip below.
I would seriously recommend that you check out as many episodes as you can before some fool takes them down!
I also think that the Sony psp game Loco Roco was heavily influenced by this, at the very least by the sound.

Gypsy Rock-Benny Hill

'Uncle Benny' as he's forever known around these ere parts is much maligned in my opinion.
OK, the tv show' descended into the endless 'Benny-Benny -Hill' chases( a victim of his own popularity), but there is gold in them thar hills and it's ceratinly worth re-visiting...I think he was a comic genius meself...

Burnley Is Babylon-Russ Abbot

Now Rastarfarianism isn't the first thing you associate with 'madcap' comic genius Russ Abbot, but here is the case for the defence. The legendary 'Burnley Is Babylon' by 'King Wilf and the Rastaplasts'.
So here we find our northern rasta man, 'knitting woolie hats and smoking me herb...'
Ee Bah Gum indeed...
