Fallin'+Can't Seem To Make You Mine-The Seeds

A couple of tracks from the inimitable 60's LA band The Seeds. Fallin' is a classic repetitive hypnotic blast from their album 'Future' whilst 'Can't Seem To Make you Mine' is a classic repetitive hypnotic blast fresh from use in a deodorant commercial. Both full of Seedy goodness.

Much has been said of The Seeds influence on The Doors sounds and I think that comes through here...enjoy!

Marihuana Mantra-Kuno and the Marihuana Brass

So who'd have thought it, swinging hip Germans singing about the virtues of marijuana!

Top track.

Bat Macumba+Panis Et Circenses-Os Mutantes

Here are the superb Brazilian psych band Os Mutantes with the famous 'Bat Macumba amd Panis Et Cirencses from their debut recording. If you're haven't heard of them before I'm sure you'll become a big fan upon hearing these two tracks...particularly love the mad 'trumpet/mellotron?' on Panis Et Circenses.

Can't Get The One I Want-Francoise Hardy

Often an artist has so many quality songs it's hard to just pick one...and that is certainly the case here.
So I'm going back to 'Can't Get The One I Want' as a typical example of her work, great melody, great lyrics and a fantastic vocal... Francoise Hardy

Je Danse Donc Je Suis-Brigitte Bardot

I'm off to Dordogne in a week or so which is a great excuse to put up some tracks by french/French related artistes, starting with this gem from Brigitte Bardot. I was told by a friend that the title of this translates as the well known English phrase, 'You dancing?...you asking?'...I could be wrong...

I Feel Much Better-The Small Faces

OK, so maybe not the 'mod-ist' Small Faces track, but great none the less...how could it not be...taken from their second album, 'Small Faces' from 1967...issued also, with different track listing as 'There Are But Four Small Faces' in The USA.

The Rise Of The Brighton Surf-Kim Fowley

I'm off to Brighton this weekend so I'd thought i'd pop up a few mod(-ish) records, starting with this oddity from Kim Fowley. If you don't know who he is...well you should, check him out as he's been involved in lots and lots of great records over the years...Bubblegum, Alley-oop,The Trip, to name just a few...
This fun track is from his 'Outlaw Superman' album which collects various odd singles Fowley put out...Oh, and you may well recognise the tune...

Go Go Gorilla-The Shondells

Going to be putting up a few 'monkey' related tracks over the coming days, so to get in the swing (see what I did there?) here's 'Go Go Gorilla' by the Shondells (what no Tommy James?)...and no, I don't really want all the Gorilla's to 'go'...I want them to 'GO!'...

Mad Monster Party-Ethel Ennis

Mad Monster Party by Ethel Ennis from the superb Rankin/Bass animated film of the same name, see trailer above(sick-a-dilic?).The soundtrack to the film is mostly instrumental but here we get a great Bond-type track that sets the scene perfectly!

The film also features the inimitable Phyllis Diller...whether or not we'll ever 'be ready for that', well, only time will tell!
