First Singing a Song in the Morning Podcast-No Drugs No Way!

OK, so here we go...you may notice the appearance of that rather ungainly player on the right of the blog, well, what it lacks in aesthetics it makes up for in functionality so that now you can listen to the first hour or so's material featured hear, which I would wholeheartedly recommend you do right away!

So that's John Truby's classic 'Blind Man's Penis', tales of L.S.D, Strychnine by the Sonics, a couple or so Sparks tracks amongst other treasures...I'll get the next hour long segment done when I can be arsed and so on and so forth....enjoy!!!

Sparks Week! Something For The Girl With Everything...erm well, almost...

To celebrate the return of The Sparks to London this weekend http://www.allsparks.com/ I'll be posting various(tenuous?) Sparks related tracks now and again, which brings us to this...ahem, beauty...

Back in late 1960's and throughout the 1970's various record labels thought it a good idea to put all the top hits of the year together onto one album and call it something simple like 'Big Hits' or something...coupled with an image of a rather fetching lady on the sleeve this seemed to be a winning idea.
However, there was a tragic downside to this concept.
All the tracks were actually re-recorded for these albums by session groups and not the original artist's themselves, which led to some 'interesting' interpretations, to say the least.

I am a fan of these compilations in general and though you often end up wading through lots of guff, you do get the odd track that is so...different, so 'bad' as to be valid in it's own right...unfortunately, this track isn't one of those...

What it does do is It go some way to show just how great a band Sparks are and what a great track this really is, so get your cash out and buy The Sparks back catalogue. (you'll need lots of cash BTW, but you know, probably less than a for a car or something, and it will do you a lot more good in the long run)

P.s-There must be a version of 'This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us' out there on one of these albums...so if anyone's got that...I would love to hear it...
